How It Began

The Sanctuary began as a recognition, not of something broken, but of something essential that had been living without a home.

For a long time, my leadership life appeared steady and capable on the outside, while my inner life quietly waited for space within the pace and pressure of responsibility.

I was leading well, showing up prepared, and holding others with care, yet there was a growing sense of fragmentation, a subtle distance from the stillness and trust that had always guided me.

What I eventually understood was that this wasn’t burnout or failure, but a sacred misalignment: a contemplative way of leading, trying to exist inside systems that didn’t know how to honor it.

I wasn’t meant to lead from the outside in. I was meant to lead from within.

The Sanctuary emerged from that knowing as a place of return, where contemplative leaders can remain fully engaged in their work without abandoning their inner life.
