leader you were born for this but somewhere between the toxic leaders broken systems and workplace trauma you forgot why you said yes to leadership this show is your invitation to descend to anchor to find the stillness beneath the noise so you can ascend back to your team with clarity conviction and renewed purpose I'm Dr. Denise Simpson, and I will guide you through five principles that restore your wholeness and call you back to your original assignment. Join me now so we can go deeper. It's time to find your way back. welcome back leader happy that you are here i am excited to jump into our third anchor three of five anchors so we have talked about the purpose anchor uh that was just a few episodes ago and we talked about the responsibility anchor just last episode and today we're going to talk about the vision anchor welcome to another episode an opportunity for us to contemplate together an opportunity for us to pause to descend to descend from the chaos from the crisis of the world of the matters in our family the emotional psychological chaos that we experience every day in our minds and in our bodies This is an opportunity to pause. This is what this podcast show is supposed to do for all of us, is to remind us nothing's gone wrong, number one. And number two, we get to descend intentionally into for the purpose of anchoring into what is true, what is true for us individually, for our individual purpose, our soul's purpose, why we were put on this earth to lead and especially leading these very specific groups of people in our lives today. Because once we anchor into these five incredible, powerful principles, we are able to then ascend back into leadership because we owe that to our communities. We owe that to our families. We owe them our best. Listen, leadership is hella hard. I love using that word, hella, hella hard. Is it a word? I don't know. We just made that up. Let me tell you something. The world is hard. It always has been. I know generations talk about the different challenges, the different struggles, the different economic climates, the different variables that impacted how they showed up, how they parented, and how they led their communities and their families. So we're all here gathering from different generations, from different backgrounds, and You know, I like to share with my clients, my nervous system is not yours and yours is not his and his is not theirs. We all have a very unique set of wiring in our minds and in our bodies. And depending on those external outputs like your culture, right? like your immediate family values, like the convictions that you have grown into, like the political affiliation that you identify with, your ideologies, all of those external inputs, they're variables, you and I have taken them on individually and uniquely to our own circumstances. So not one person will lead the same. Thank God. Thank God. You don't live in my head. You have not experienced my life. You have not been in this body and in this nervous system. Thank God. And I haven't been in yours. So I can't pretend to know what your life experience has been. What I can do, however, is bring us all together on a weekly basis so that we can remember, so that we can remind ourselves why it is we are called leaders. That's an identity, an identity that we have taken on. It's an identity that has been forged by life experiences, the good, bad, and the ugly. We have taken on these titles of leader. either leading our families, leading our nonprofits, leading our constituents, leading our clients. Oh, what responsibilities do we have as leaders? Exceptional, extreme. My goodness, we are the ones called to do this work. And so my job as your coach is to show you number one, there's a different way to lead. Ooh, number one, a different way to lead than what you've been doing now. Yes, please. And thank you. And then number two, I want to be able to show you those strategies that have worked for me for decades. And now that I have fully immersed myself in the contemplative work, I'm in peace. I'm in harmony. My body feels alive, yet balanced and calm. And dare I say, ooh, excited for what the future is going to bring. That's my job as your coach and many other things that I am tasked to do as your coach. But those are two things that I want for you to keep at the forefront of your mind because this is the work we do together on a weekly basis. So welcome. Welcome on in. I don't care where you're from, what you've done, what role you are in. If you identify as a leader with a formal role or not, you are welcome. This is your home. This is where we anchor because we've chosen to descend because the world wants all of us. I mean... The world wants to eat us up, sometimes chew us up and spit us out. And I'm not going to let that happen to anybody who's watching or listening to my voice right now. And this is the work we do. Again, we descend from chaos. Number one, that's intentional. Wake up, leader. Be aware of that. Number two, We anchor into truth. Ooh, what is the truth for you? Because the truth for me is very different. Ooh, but that doesn't take away from your truth and your power, my friend. That's because we're different and we've been designed differently. We are built differently. Again, the nervous system and the wirings are different. Hallelujah. Thank goodness. Thank goodness for diversity in this world. Please and thank you. And once you anchor into your truth, you can then number three, ascend back into leadership, honey, because those people are waiting for you. They're waiting for you to end the burnout. They're waiting for you to treat the burnout. They're waiting for you to come back to life. They're waiting for you. They're waiting for you. They're waiting for your direction. They're waiting for your emotion. They're waiting for your compassion. They're waiting for your brilliance. But we've been hiding that. Why? Because there are systems in place that are threatened by your truth, that are threatened by your leadership. And I'm on watch now, baby. I'm on watch. Game of Thrones, I don't know, Watcher of the Wall, whatever. I'm on watch, baby, because that's not going to happen under my watch, under my leadership. And so today, how exciting to jump into our third anchor. Remember, we've covered two. Number one, again, purpose anchor. That was number one. Number two, responsibility anchor. Number three, today, the vision anchor. Let's talk about that right away. Let's jump right in. My friend, my leader, hello, you're here. Now it's time to settle in with me, right? We've detached from the chaos. We're here now. We're about to anchor into the third incredible principle, which is the vision anchor. Now, as leaders, this is something we have been drilled in our heads. Vision, strategy, strategic planning, looking ahead. Yes, there's so much truth to that very important skill. It's a skill set. It's a skill set. It's something that we have to develop. And for those of us who have been in the pipeline longer than others, we use our intuition. We use our life experiences. We use our wisdom to see further, farther than anyone else. in our collective can do. This is why we are the leaders. So it's an important skill. It's something I've taught so many executive leaders and CEOs and board of directors and board members out here and those in office. I have taught them the skill of vision and strategic vision and planning. So it's a skill set that can be learned. Thank God, thank God we're not all in trouble then because if it's a skill, we can learn it, honey, and we can master that skill. And this is an important anchor to consider right here. It's right in the middle of the five. Remember, this is anchor number three. This is where we balance it out. We balance out our five anchors right here, right in the middle. Expansive vision. What does that look like for you? Is there a pull, a calling, something that's moving you forward and you're noticing that the collective is staying behind maybe? Or maybe you, because of all of your genius and wisdom and brilliance, you get to see things differently. You start looking at patterns from the past historical record and you're like, well, that has impacted us today. So with all that information and all the knowledge I have and the interest I have in moving this collective forward, what does that future look like for us? Oh, my goodness. Hone in on that. What an important skill that is. We all can learn this skill from different places of our lives, from different life experiences, from our different educational backgrounds, our cultural backgrounds. How fantastic that we all come together today to anchor into this principle in the only way we can individually do for ourselves. Oh my goodness. Listen, I am so excited about this anchor. Oh my goodness. I am all about my vision. I have tapped into that visionary skill for a very long time. And I didn't ignore it. I didn't deny it. It came from somewhere. And it could have been from all of the inputs. It could have been from the way I was raised, maybe. Could have been the way my abuelita treated me so kindly, so lovingly. Oh, I always thought I was her favorite. I probably wasn't. But I didn't want to speak English because I... wanted to speak to her privately, quietly, secretly in Spanish because all of my other sisters and cousins spoke English and weren't very good at Spanish. So I wanted to be in her good graces. Ooh, people pleasing. Ooh, something I had to unravel for myself as an adult because, ooh, that was hardcore wired in me, wanting to please my grandmother because she paid so much attention to me. And I thought, well, if I'm a good girl, she's going to love me even more than all these chicks in this family. Listen, the way you were raised, your values, the convictions that your family embedded in you, The era you were raised in, right? I mean, I graduated from high school in the nineties and college in the nineties. Actually, it was about to be two thousand. So, in nineteen ninety nine, I graduated from college. Yep. Do the math, y'all. Do the math. Do the math. So, the era that I was raised in and that I started my leadership path in, all that contributes to who I am today. But what I've chosen to do today is to bring with me all of the incredible life and leadership experiences into today, into my business practice today, into leading my team, leading my clients, leading this industry. Think about that for yourself. All of those inputs throughout your time on this earth is who you are right now. And that also includes... the leaders you've experienced firsthand all the trauma all of that that has been programmed and embedded in your nervous system you you're bringing it today my friend this is why awareness is really important in the work that we do but think about this for yourself your vision is a direct correlation to all of those inputs Use them all. Yes, the good, bad, and the ugly. Use them all to be able to guide your people ahead, to take them further, farther than they've ever been before or they could ever imagine for themselves. This is your job. Wow, what a sacred responsibility this is. So take a moment, jot down some notes, journal in your book, or if you have my Leadership Mastery Quarterly Planner, check that out. I created that for myself and for my leadership clients. Wow. Life-changing. You want mastery? You want to set some incredible goals because you're a high-achieving, ambitious, full of desire leader? You're going to want my Quarterly Planner. But anyway, take a pen, take a paper. Start jotting down some ideas, some notes. Who I am today is derived from all of these inputs. What are they so I can be aware? What are they so I can leverage and maximize that? What are they so I can remember, remind myself that this is all stored in my brain and my body and that I can recall the good things? Yes, and the bad and take the learnings from the bad. This is going to help me hone the skill of vision. Not just I can see a few feet from here. No, I mean expansive vision. And that takes intention. And that's what we're doing today. Remember, we're contemplatives. We contemplate things. So this third anchor is so incredibly special to me and to my clients because this is where all of those incredible ideas come pouring in. When you give yourself a moment to pause, to break, to turn off the news, to turn off social media, to anchor back into your soul and your soul's calling. And you're able to, for just a moment, maybe a minute for you. For me, it's about fifteen. Why? Because I set a timer. But for you, you can start with a minute. A minute. Put the timer on. And just drop down, drop down. Take a few breaths in and out and anchor yourself wherever you find yourself. Maybe it's in your office on your favorite office chair. Maybe it's in the living room. on your favorite lazy boy chair. By the way, I bought two. What? It's a lazy girl era, and I bought two of them because I need to use that lazy girl to contemplate. And I sit there. I prop my feet up. I have a cup of tea or a cup of coffee, depending on the time, and I just drop into my body. The best ideas come from that time that I intentionally set for myself. And I want you to do the same wherever you can have that private moment for yourself without the kids running around. I know it's summertime, so they're running around in the house trying to find something for them to do. But it's important that you put yourself first. Because this is the work that's required for you to reconnect back to your wholeness because you've been fragmented for too long, my friend. The burnout, the overwhelm, the anxiety, the depression, all of those uncontrollable emotions that we experience throughout the day. This is important work for us to do to calm the nervous system. And when we take deep breaths in and out, and we are intentional with our setting, with our environment, that tells our nervous system, oh, we're safe. We're safe now. It's safe. We're away from the news. We're away from that ex-husband. We're away from that mother-in-law. We're away from that hater on social media. We're away from that CEO that likes to badger me. We're away from that client who is trying to cancel me. Detach, distance yourself. We're not burying our head in the sand, so to speak. We're anchoring. That's a different move, baby. That's a different intention. We do this so that we can anchor back into who we are because the world will remind you every second you let it that you don't belong here, that you're not good enough, that this is all a fluke and that this was all luck and that you have no business in leadership. And worse, your emotions have no business in leadership. What? This is why we anchor. Because the world is trying to take you out, my friend. And I'm on watch. Not on my watch, baby. Not on my watch will that happen to you. So as you find your space, wherever that may be, And be intentional, be purposeful, be selfish. Tell everyone, do not disturb for the next fifteen minutes because this is my time. My time. No text messages, no phone calls, no meetings. I need a moment for myself and my soul to reconnect. Do you remember that question that I posed to you at the start of this season? Can you be an effective leader without sacrificing your soul or destroying yourself? What a powerful question that has been for me and for many of you out here. I know this because you've reached out to tell me. I had no idea that I could lead differently. I had no idea that I could bring my soul into my vocation, into my career, into this emerging leadership role or this CEO executive level leadership role. My goodness, you mean I have the right to bring all of myself into my leadership role? What? And you're going to show me how to do this without sacrificing myself, without destroying my life and the relationships that I love and care so much about. Oh my goodness. What? Tell me more, Denise. Show me how to do this. That's what we're doing every week. And let me remind you before we wrap up this episode together, there are five anchors that we're anchoring into. You have chosen to descend with me. Good for you. Good for us. And now every week we're covering an anchor. We've already covered now today, three of the five. Number one is the purpose anchor, your divine calling, going back to that original assignment, remembering why you entered the pipeline of leadership. That second anchor, the responsibility anchor, what is your sacred stewardship, my friend? It is sacred. Treat it as such. And when you treat your role with such reverence because you are responsible for leading this group of humans and whatever AI tools that they're managing or leading, which you have answered the call and now you are stewarding this group of people, take this as a sacred stewardship to lead them in the right direction. And then today, the vision anchor, that expansive vision that you have, it's a skill that you can hone, it's a skill that you can master, but we need a moment to find intentionality around all the inputs. all the inputs that directly correlate to your vision, to your visionary skills, to how you move that collective forward, the brilliance, the genius, the wisdom that you use to move this collective forward. So whether you're starting a movement out here in the world, listen, kudos to you, baby, because We need your perspective. We need your individual genius. And this is what's happening with a lot of leaders. They're leaving their leadership traditional roles and they're moving into entrepreneurship with me. Come on over. Come on over. over business owner, come on owner, come on, come on over entrepreneur, because I got your back because you are being called. You are answering your own call because you know, there's a group, a collective, your people, your community that deserve this new perspective. And you're the only one that can deliver it. So if you are preparing for this movement, come on over, stick around. These anchors are going to serve you very, very well. And what if you are in corporate America or in leadership somewhere globally? These anchors are for you as well, my friend. This is where we get to be intentional in Returning to our wholeness because these systems and these organizations, these models, antiquated, toxic, dangerous models of business and leadership have fragmented you. And you have forgotten why you were called into this role. And these anchors are here to remind you why you are here leading in this organization right now. This is about renewing your purpose, reminding yourself of this divine calling and that it was given to you and not to her and definitely not to him and certainly not to them. You, you, you, it's yours. And so you open yourself up to these anchors so you can ascend back into leadership because your people deserve your wholeness, your fullness, your aliveness, your love, your compassion. So wherever you are on that pipeline, if you're an entrepreneur, a business owner, a solopreneur, emerging leader, mid-level manager, executive leader, CEO, board of director, if you are running for office, if you're a nonprofit leader, wherever you find yourself, this work is for us. That's my expansive vision. That's me using what I know about historical studies and record and how it's impacted us today, and also considering all the trends in the forecasting and how I'm able to use all of that to move us forward. And this is... This is the framework. This is the self-study. This is the work. It's contemplative work because we want to be whole and resourceful and integrated. And this is how we do it. This is how we do it. Woo, leader. Wow. What a wonderful episode it has been for me. I hope this has served you. I know it has served you as well. Stay tuned for the final two anchors. We'll cover anchor number four next time, and then we'll finish up the series with anchor number five. So go back if you haven't heard the first two anchors. You're going to want to catch up on those as well. Thank you so much for your time today, Leader. I am wishing you a wonderful week ahead.
